Jesse Warden presents RobotLegs on Top of Gaia Flash Framework About This Meeting: Learn how to integrate the RobotLegs MVCS framework on top of the Gaia Flash Framework. While Gaia is known for creating high profile sites like Mercedes Benz: AMG, Star Trek Movie, and Disney's the Jungle Book, it does not provide a business and application layer. When creating Enterprise sites ones like HBO, FordVehicles, and Hyundia a framework is needed for integrating all the dynamic data from the middle-tier, as well as having a layer to handling the domain logic. Jesse will build an example site using Gaia, show you how to integrate RobotLegs on top of Gaia, and explain the workflow with a little continuous integration advice. This month, Ryan Taylor has agreed to show us some of the features available in Flash Player 10. Intro To Flash Player 10 and Pixel Bender Flash Player 10 is upon us and with it comes an exciting array of powerful new features. The presentation will kick off with a walkthrough of how you can get started developing for Flash Player 10 using a recent build of the Flex SDK. From there, explorations of some of the core new features will take place, including the new Vector type, drawing API, and foundational 3D support. The night will end with an introduction to Pixel Bender, Adobe?s powerful new pixel shader language. Demonstrations of Pixel Bender kernels as Shaders for fills, filters, blend modes, and generic number crunchers in Flash will take place.

This presentation is geared towards (but not limited to) developers who are already familiar with ActionScript 3.0 and are looking to get started with the next version of Flash Player. An intermediate understanding of trigonometry and basic calculus will also be helpful during the discussions on 3D and Pixel Bender. In general, anyone interested in Flash Player 10 that would like a first look and some inspiration will enjoy this presentation. About the Presenter Ryan Taylor is an award-winning artist and programmer specializing in object-oriented architecture, CGI mathematics/programming, and both static and motion design. Ryan currently serves as a platform lead on the prestigious Multimedia Platforms Group at Schematic. In addition to architecting large-scale projects and speaking at industry events, he has also been writing for a couple of books including the Flex 3 Cookbook and the Adobe AIR Bible, due out later this year.
